wukalina Walk launches

The latest multiday experience to open in lutruwita/Tasmania is wukalina Walk. There’s nothing like this anywhere in the world. This 4-day/3-night palawa owned and operated guided walk takes place in the North East areas of wukalina/Mt William National Park and larapuna/Bay of Fires areas. These are our traditional homelands.

The Walk is a cultural experience designed to deepen the broader population’s understanding of palawa (First Nations peoples of lutruwita) and their culture and community history. The Walk also, and just as importantly, provides an opportunity for Aboriginal people here to be on Country and to engage with and share their culture with others.

For two nights we stay in palawa inspired domed-roof huts at architecturally designed standing camp krakani lumi – it means resting place in our language of palawa kani. The final night is in a beautifully restored stone lightkeepers cottage at Eddystone Point, the most northern headland of larapuna/Bay of Fires.

The first Walk departs Launceston on Sunday 7 January 2018 and the season will run every year from September to April. We're sure it will be a great success.
